4 Months

Well Sam is really getting to be a big boy! He's just so amazing we can't believe it sometimes :o) We had a wonderful first Thanksgiving with him accompanied by a legen...wait for it...DARY diaper blowout. His poor turkey shirt will never be the same. He also had his first teeny taste of mashed potatoes that day off of Momma's finger and let's just say I think the boy's going to share his parent's affection for that particular dish. I gave him 2 tiny tastes and he stared me down as I ate the rest.
The weekend after Thanksgiving, Sam got to see his very first SNOW! It wasn't much and it melted quick, but we bundled him up and took him out while it was falling. You'll see how thrilled he was in one of the pictures below :o) Someday he'll be more impressed (I hope)! He also got to spend some time with his Nana & Papa. We apparently were having too much fun to take any pictures though so we don't have any new ones of them with him :o( Watch out at Christmas!
As Jason posted, Sam had his first "solid" food last Saturday (I don't think the teeny bit of taters really counts, though that will go down in his baby book as his first taste of "real" food). We gave him Rice Cereal. He did really well and seemed to enjoy it.
He had his 4 month checkup on Monday and got his 2nd round of immunizations :o( Poor little guy screamed a lot this time, but he's okay and back to his cheerful self. Monday was just quite a rough day for Sammy.. and Daddy too since that was one of his days off with him. Of course with his checkup came a weight/height/head update and let me tell ya, the boy has GROWN! He now weighs 16lbs, 6oz (that's a gain of almost 5 pounds in 2 mths) which puts him in the 80th percentile. His height is 26 1/2" (he grew 3 inches) which puts him in the 95th percentile there - I swear we don't know WHERE he gets that height gene! And finally, his head is now 44cm (grew 3cm) which puts him in the 90th percentile for that. The Dr was very pleased and said he's growing proportionately and everything looks good. She said it was fine that we'd started him on the cereal based on his appetite, motor skills and size. So it was a good visit!
On a side note, my surgery went very well last week and I'm back at work. I really enjoyed having a full week off with Sam! That was worth going under the knife! I also really feel a lot better tummy-wise so I think this is really going to help me in the long run. But enough about that, how about some new Sam pics?!

The happy family on Sam's first Thanksgiving
My new favorite Sam funny face pic :o)
Ahh, a good grin!
The infamous outfit from U. Dale & A. Susan! We thought he looked like a little cowboy (an adorable one too!) so we decided to let him ride the pig that his Great Grandpa Perry made for Daddy when he was little. Sam wasn't sure what to think about that :o)
Sam's first snowfall! Can't you feel the excitement?!? ;o)
Sam & Grandpa in his outfit from cousin Shelly
I had to post this one because he looks so grown up and you can see how much his hair is growing! It's so cute & fuzzy :o)
The very first bite of rice cereal
Bite #2.. Mommy made it pretty runny so he was slurping it out of the spoon. I love his little hands in this one :o)
And for your super adorable fix for the week... Check out the Samster in the hat that came with his outfit from cousin Shelly! He hates it (I think it's the chinstrap), but he's soooooooo cute in it that Mommy has to torture him with it from time to time!
